AJ Duncan (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and event facilitator with a passion for grassroots cultural work and building creative communities. Her practice is inherently queer and feminist in nature. She makes work centered around the everyday lives of women and gender non-conforming folk; getting ready, at the bar, having a cuppa or simply laying on the couch. Representation is at the core of her practice, particularly with regards to disabled folk who are so often excluded from the visual arts.

A recurring theme through her work is the value in community between women. Her illustrations weave intimate narratives of women having discussions about everything and anything, from the beauty in the monotony of our everyday lives, to the taboo topics which we need to discuss openly more often. They nod to the importance of the bonds that women form through conversation.

You can shop her work either in person at upcoming markets or here on her Etsy.
